Big Hit Music asks fans to refrain from sending letters and gifts to BTS members serving in the military.

BTS requests respect for members during military service

The agency of K-pop superstars BTS has requested that fans refrain from sending letters and gifts to the members who are currently serving in the military.

BTS members RM, Jimin, V, Jungkook, Jin, J-Hope, and Suga are fulfilling their military service. In a notice issued on Jan. 15, Big Hit Music said, “Thank you always for your heartfelt love and support for BTS.”

“Thanks to your kind consideration and support this past December, BTS members RM, Jimin, V and Jung Kook have entered the military and will soon be performing their duties at the training camp,” the agency stated, while adding that the military barracks are communal spaces shared by military personnel for training together.

“If a large number of letters and gifts from the fans arrive at the center all at once, it would be difficult to store them and they could be easily lost. Therefore, we kindly ask that fans refrain from sending anything by mail,” the agency added.

Instead of sending anything to BTS in the military, fans are asked to post messages on the WeVerse app using hashtags. “Instead, Big Hit Music will assist in making sure the artists are able to personally see any heartwarming messages fans leave on Weverse using the hashtags #Dear_RM_from_ARMY, #Dear_Jin_from_ARMY, #Dear_SUGA_from_ARMY, #Dear_jhope_from_ARMY, #Dear_Jimin_from_ARMY, #Dear_V_from_ARMY, #Dear_JungKook_from_ARMY,” the agency said.

In addition, fans are asked not to go to the training graduation ceremony of BTS members. “We would also like to ask for your cooperation during the recruit training graduation ceremony. In order to prevent any issues that might occur from crowding, we ask fans to please refrain from visiting the site. Instead, we ask you to keep your heartwarming words of support and farewell in your hearts,” the agency stated.

It is expected that all BTS members will finish their military service by June 2025. Jin enlisted on Dec. 13, 2022, and will be discharged on June 12, 2024. J-Hope started his service on April 18 this year and will be discharged on Oct. 17, 2024. Suga will be discharged on June 21, 2025 after serving for 21 months as a social worker or public duty personnel.

RM and V enlisted on Dec. 11 and will be serving for 18 months, and Jungkook and Jimin will also serve for 18 months. Both pairs will be discharged on June 10, 2025 and June 11, 2025 respectively.
