Tomorrow marks the streaming premiere of Viu’s “Secret Ingredient,” a six-part mini-series featuring Julia Barretto in a lead role. The multinational co-production also stars South Korea’s Sang Heon “SH” Lee and Indonesian heartthrob Nicholas Saputra. The series follows the story of Maya, played by Julia, an aspiring chef aiming to win a cooking competition to cover her mother’s medical bills. A love triangle and culinary journey unfold as the plot progresses.
Julia underwent an intensive culinary course at the Magsaysay Center for Hospitality and Culinary Arts (MIHCA) to prepare for her role. The series showcases various Filipino dishes and features kitchen scenes shot at MIHCA’s facilities in Mandaluyong City.
In a recent interview, Julia shared her excitement about working on the project and collaborating with a Korean director and stars. The series, set to premiere on Viu tomorrow, will offer a unique cross-cultural viewing experience. Stay tuned for new episodes every Tuesday following the debut.
