Vigilantly observe and report any suspected terrorists

In a town in Lanao del Norte rocked by terrorism, Governor Imelda Dimaporo has urged village officials to increase their support for the military by providing timely information about the activities of Islamic State-linked Dawlah Islamiyah (DI) militants.

Dimaporo addressed the municipal peace and order council meeting, emphasizing the importance of vigilance in preventing the spread of DI in the communities. She stated that if the barangay governments in each of the town’s 26 villages were functional, it would have been easier to detect the presence of DI in their communities.

The town of Munai recently experienced intense fighting between government troops and DI gunmen, resulting in casualties on both sides. Following this incident, clashes continued, with three more DI gunmen being killed in a recent clash with soldiers in Matampay village.

As a result of the ongoing violence, 46 families were forced to flee to nearby villages in Tangcal town. The situation remains tense as authorities work to address the threat posed by DI militants in the region.
