2nd Mech DBC Cites Peace And Harmony As Key To Progress

BALO-I, Lanao del Norte (PIA) – During the surrender of two former members of the Local Terrorist Group (LTG) Dawlah Islamiya-Maute Group (DI-MG) at the headquarters of 4th Mechanized Infantry “Kalasag” Battalion in this town, 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade Deputy Commander Col. Charlemagne Batayola underscored the importance of sustaining peace and harmony in the development of the communities.

“Peace is really needed for the growth of our country in political aspects and for the benefit of the country’s people. Only when the country’s people are peaceful and harmonious, only then can the government govern the nation well,” he said.

Batayola said respecting one’s belief and values is key to making the world a better place to live. He emphasized that peace and harmony is needed among people despite their differences in religion or social status.

Moreover, he encouraged the former violent extremists (FVEs) and stakeholders to work hand-in-hand towards a peaceful and successful community.

“Angkinin natin ang mapayapa at matagumpay na pamayanan sa pamamagitan ng pagkakabati bilang magkakapatid, Muslim o Kristiyano man tayo, sundalo o dating rebelde o dating terorista,” he said.

[Let’s claim a peaceful and successful community through reconciliation with our brothers and sisters, whether we are Muslims or Christians, soldiers or former rebels or former-terrorists.]

Batayola said that the surrender of the FVEs symbolized hope that sustained peace and progress will be achieved in Lanao del Norte. (LELA/PIA-10-LanaodelNorte)
