‘Oppenheimer’ receives 13 nominations, leads this year’s race.


The nominees for the 96th Academy Awards have been announced on January 23rd, with Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” leading the way with 13 nominations. This film, based on the life of the father of the atomic bomb, has taken the lead in the competition. “Poor Things,” an adaptation of the Frankenstein story set in the Victorian era, closely follows with 11 nominations. In third place, Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” has received 10 nominations.

Among the nominees are top movies such as “American Fiction,” “Anatomy of a Fall,” “Barbie,” “The Holdovers,” “Maestro,” “Past Lives,” “The Zone of Interest”. The films will be competing under the category of Best Picture.

In the Best Director category, the following have been nominated: Jonathan Glazer for “The Zone of Interest,” Yorgos Lanthimos for “Poor Things,” Christopher Nolan for “Oppenheimer,” Martin Scorsese for “Killers of the Flower Moon,” and Justine Triet for “Anatomy of a Fall.”

In the acting categories, the Best Actor nominees include Bradley Cooper for “Maestro,” Colman Domingo for “Rustin,” Paul Giamatti for “The Holdovers,” Cillian Murphy for “Oppenheimer,” and Jeffrey Wright for “American Fiction.” The Best Actress category includes the likes of Annette Bening for “Nyad,” Lily Gladstone for “Killers of the Flower Moon,” Sandra Huller for “Anatomy of a Fall,” Carey Mulligan for “Maestro,” and Emma Stone for “Poor Things.”

The nominations were announced at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, California, and they attracted a lot of attention. Zazie Beetz and Jack Quaid posed for pictures during the event, which was held on January 23.

In total, over 23 categories will be awarded during the ceremony, including the Best International Feature Film, Best Animated Feature, Best Documentary Feature, and more. This year, there are five films with seven or more nominations, which signifies that it will be a highly competitive event.
