De La Salle’s MVP Kevin Quiambao decides to extend his stay for another season

Kevin Quiambao, the UAAP Most Valuable Player, has announced that he will be staying in De La Salle University for another year to pursue a back-to-back championship in the local collegiate ranks.

The 22-year-old forward made the announcement on his social media post on Wednesday, Dec. 13, expressing his excitement to continue playing for DLSU and aiming for another championship.

Quiambao recently led the Taft-based squad to their first UAAP men’s basketball title in seven years, defeating the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons in a historic finals duel last week. Following his outstanding performance, he also received numerous individual awards, including the UAAP MVP, making him the first local league MVP in eight years.

Despite hinting at potential overseas offers, Quiambao has chosen to stay with the DLSU team for another season, putting an end to speculations about his future plans.

The decision to stay in the Philippines comes at a time when several Filipino cagers are making moves to join leagues overseas, such as the Japan B. League and Korean Basketball League.

With Quiambao’s return, DLSU fans can expect to see more of his impressive performances in the upcoming collegiate basketball season as he strives to lead his team to another championship victory.
