University of Santo Tomas (UST) Golden Tigresses showcased a dominant performance against the University of the East (UE) Lady Red Warriors in the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament. Angeline Poyos led the charge with 25 points, including 21 attacks, three service aces, and a block.
After a tough loss to the FEU Lady Tamaraws, UST bounced back strongly, taking the match in three sets (25-19, 25-9, 25-17). Despite a brief challenge from UE in the third set, the Tigresses maintained control with key contributions from players like Reg Jurado and Cassie Carballo.
The victory secured UST’s spot at the top of the standings with an 11-2 record, tying them with the National University Lady Bulldogs. On the other hand, UE fell to 2-11 in the tournament.
With this win, UST positioned themselves for at least a playoff for the coveted twice-to-beat advantage. Their next challenge will be maintaining this momentum as they face tough competition in the coming games.
