Alan Cayetano promises to support transport groups in navigating government’s modernization program

Senator Alan Peter Cayetano Vows to Address Concerns of Struggling Transport Groups

In a press conference held on November 25 in Baguio City, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano expressed his commitment to addressing the concerns of transport groups struggling to comply with the government’s proposed modernization program. Cayetano acknowledged the difficulties faced by drivers in modernizing their units due to high costs and challenges in obtaining loans.

The senator emphasized his understanding of the struggles faced by transport groups, particularly in light of the economic setbacks brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. He noted that while the country has made progress in overcoming the pandemic, many people continue to face economic hardship.

Cayetano also criticized the previous administration for implementing a “one-size-fits-all” approach to the transport modernization program, without considering the unique circumstances of different localities. He emphasized the need for a tailored approach, particularly in a country with over 7,000 islands and diverse transportation needs.

The senator highlighted his “Presyo, Trabaho, Kita” (PTK) program as a potential solution for transport groups struggling with loan arrangements. He expressed confidence that transport groups would be willing to modernize their units if provided with a similar arrangement as those benefiting from the PTK program.

Cayetano’s pledge to address the concerns of struggling transport groups reflects a commitment to understanding the specific challenges faced by different sectors and implementing tailored solutions to support their needs.
