Upcoming Months to See Naia Enhancements and Maintenance

Electrical Maintenance Works and Upgrades to be Conducted at Manila Airport Terminals

Manila, Philippines — The Manila International Airport Authority (Miaa) announced that electrical maintenance works and upgrades will be carried out at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) terminals in the coming months. Miaa officer-in-charge Bryan Co assured the public that these works will be done on a staggered basis to minimize power interruptions.

Co stated that the program, spanning multiple months, will involve substantial investments in upgrading various facilities at Naia Terminals 1, 2, 3, and 4, as well as other airport structures. The focus of the upgrades includes acquiring new equipment to improve capacity and replace outdated systems. The aim is to create a more reliable and robust airport infrastructure that enhances the experience of passengers and stakeholders.

Miaa will issue advance notices for the scheduled electrical upgrades and maintenance activities. Co emphasized that these actions will not have a negative impact on flight operations.

So far, Miaa has successfully replaced and energized underground cables, circuit breakers, relays, and current transformers within Naia Terminal 3 South Concourse substation. Generator sets have been provided to ensure continuous operation of vital equipment and uninterrupted passenger processing throughout the maintenance period.

Co assured that full energization back to the main power source was achieved within the same day. An additional hour was dedicated to thoroughly test and validate the newly installed equipment without disrupting airport operations.

These maintenance and upgrade works are part of Miaa’s ongoing efforts to improve the overall efficiency and reliability of the Manila airport facilities, which serve as the country’s main gateway for both domestic and international travel.
