Teves captured in East Timor

A former congressman from Negros Oriental, Arnolfo Teves Jr., was apprehended in East Timor yesterday afternoon. The Department of Justice confirmed the arrest, which took place at the Top Golf Driving Range and Bar in the capital city of Dili. Teves is facing charges as the suspected mastermind behind the murder of Negros Oriental governor Roel Degamo and nine others. Despite being in the US for medical treatment at the time of the crime, Teves refused to return to the Philippines, claiming threats against his life. This led to his suspension and subsequent expulsion from the House of Representatives. The Philippine government has revoked his passport, and the Interpol has issued a Red Notice for his provisional detention. Authorities from both the Philippines and East Timor are coordinating for Teves’ extradition. The Department of Justice emphasized the importance of international cooperation in apprehending individuals who evade justice, stating that no terrorist can escape the law.
