Manila Water consistently meets stringent drinking water quality requirements

Manila Water Ensures Safe and Potable Drinking Water for 7.6 Million Customers

Manila Water Co. Inc. has successfully met the strict requirements set by the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water (PNSDW) of the Department of Health (DOH), providing assurance to its 7.6 million customers in the East Zone that they are receiving safe and potable water.

The company has consistently maintained 100% compliance with the PNSDW standards for sampling surface water treatment facilities throughout the year. By December 2023, all samples collected from regulatory sampling points met the total coliform, physical, and chemical standards for water.

Through its ISO-certified and DOH-accredited laboratory and testing facilities, the East Zone concessionaire achieved a 110.66% compliance rate with the government standard for testing water treatment works, customer taps, service reservoirs, and pumping stations.

In 2023, Manila Water tested a total of 85,008 samples, surpassing the required 76,818 set by the PNSDW. These samples underwent testing for physical, microbiological, and chemical parameters to ensure that the water is free from thermotolerant coliforms, organic and inorganic chemicals, and contaminants.

Jeric Sevilla, the director of Manila Water’s Corporate Communications Affairs Group, emphasized the company’s commitment to prioritizing the health of its customers by diligently testing and sampling water from their network. Sevilla also urged customers to check the integrity of their internal reticulation to ensure the safety of water from their taps.

Furthermore, Manila Water reminded customers to visually inspect the water before drinking, ensuring that it is clear, free of suspended particles, and odorless. Customers were encouraged to report any water quality concerns to the Manila Water Customer Care Hotline at 1627.
