Bennie Boatwright Scores 51 as San Miguel Beer Defeats Terrafirma

In an impressive display of skill, Bennie Boatwright of San Miguel Beer scored 51 points to lead his team to a 132-110 victory over Terrafirma at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday, Jan. 7.

The win keeps San Miguel Beer in contention for a quarterfinals bonus in the 2023-24 PBA Commissioner’s Cup. The Beermen now hold a record of seven wins and three losses in the conference.

After a two-week break, the Beermen initially struggled to find their rhythm, falling behind 8-0 early in the game. However, Boatwright’s explosive performance, including seven three-pointers, helped propel San Miguel Beer to victory.

Boatwright’s 51 points made him only the third player to reach the 50-point mark in this conference, following Meralco’s Zach Lofton and TNT’s Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson.

Despite being out of contention, Terrafirma put up a strong fight, but San Miguel Beer’s offensive firepower ultimately proved too much for them to handle.

Supporting Boatwright’s performance, Don Trollano scored 22 points, Mo Tautuaa added 16 points and seven rebounds, CJ Perez contributed 16 points, and Terrence Romeo had 12 points and seven assists. Chris Ross also chipped in with 10 assists.

Javi Gomez De Liano led the scoring for Terrafirma with 26 points, while Juami Tiongson and Thomas De Thaey added 17 points each.

San Miguel Beer’s victory solidifies their position as a strong contender in the Commissioner’s Cup as they work towards securing a spot in the quarterfinals.
