PNP Cancels License to Carry Firearms of Quiboloy

Fugitive preacher Apollo Quiboloy and co-accused associate Ingrid Canada have been ordered to surrender their firearms to the Philippine National Police (PNP). The PNP revoked Quiboloy’s license to own and possess firearms, as well as his firearms registration. The decision was approved by PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil following a review by the Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) and the police Legal Service.

According to Col. Jean Fajardo, the PNP’s chief publicist, Quiboloy and Canada, or their next of kin, nearest relatives, and legal representatives, have six months to surrender their firearms to the police. Failure to do so may result in criminal complaints under Republic Act 10591, the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.

Quiboloy, the leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, has 19 firearms under his name, while one gun is registered in Canada’s name. Both individuals are facing cases of qualified human trafficking and child abuse in Davao City. Fajardo emphasized that the revocation of their firearms licenses is based on the penalties and warrants issued in their cases, despite the possibility to file a motion for reconsideration.

The PNP’s decision to revoke the firearms licenses of Quiboloy and Canada stands, as they are urged to comply with the directive within the given timeframe.
