Dongallo leads Lady Warriors to victory over Maroons in final game



In a thrilling UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball matchup, the University of the East Lady Red Warriors emerged victorious over the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, with Casiey Dongallo leading the charge with 28 points. The game ended with a score of 23-25, 25-17, 27-25, 25-22 in favor of UE.

Dongallo’s standout performance included 25 attacks, two blocks, and an ace, helping her team break a five-game losing streak. The Lady Red Warriors dominated the fourth set, maintaining a lead built on Dongallo’s timely points.

Despite a late surge from UP, UE managed to secure the win with Dongallo’s strong finish. Riza Nogales also contributed significantly with 17 points for UE, while Stephanie Bustrillo and Irah Jaboneta each had 15 points for UP.

With this victory, the Lady Red Warriors concluded their season with a 3-11 record, marking their best finish since 2019. On the other hand, UP ended their campaign with a 1-13 record.

In the men’s volleyball division, UP also emerged victorious over UE in a closely contested match, with Louis Gamban and Angelo Lagando leading the way with 20 and 15 points, respectively. The final score was 25-19, 18-25, 14-25, 25-20, 15-9 in favor of UP.

The win secured a 2-12 record for the UP men’s volleyball team, while UE finished their season at the bottom of the standings with a 1-13 record.
