Piston Announces Transport Strike from April 29 to May 1

Transport group Piston has announced plans for another nationwide strike from April 29 to May 1 in response to the franchise consolidation deadline set for April 30. The group, led by Piston Deputy Secretary General Ruben Baylon, expressed concerns over the impact of the consolidation on the livelihoods of drivers and operators. This strike follows a previous two-day strike held on April 15, despite President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s decision not to extend the deadline. The group is calling attention to the potential negative effects on millions of workers due to the worsening transportation system in the country.
