Preparation for Roles: The ‘Anyone But You’ Cast’s Approach to Their Characters in the Romantic Comedy

Anyone But You: A Romantic Comedy Starring Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney

The lead stars of the new romantic comedy “Anyone But You,” Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney, have shared how they prepared for their roles in the movie directed by Will Gluck.

In the film, Sweeney (Euphoria) and Powell (Top Gun: Maverick) portray romantic enemies Bea and Ben, who must set aside their personal grudges and pretend to be a couple for the sake of Bea’s sister’s wedding. The film also features a star-studded cast including Alexandra Shipp, Darren Barnet, Hadley Robinson, Dermot Mulroney, Rachel Griffiths, Michelle Hurd, Bryan Brown, Charlee Fraser, Joe Davidson, and GaTa.

“I didn’t realize how naked I would be [in the movie],” Powell shares. “I knew it was a rom-com, which meant I should stay away from the beer for a bit. But I didn’t expect to be this naked, this often. I kept weights and resistance bands in my trailer that I would break out on certain days, just to keep everything looking good.”

Other cast members also shared their unique preparations for their roles in the movie, including learning a new language, working out, and watching romantic comedies for inspiration.

Sweeney, who is also an executive producer of the film, revealed that part of her preparation for the movie included convincing the right people to join the project. She expressed her excitement to work with Gluck, describing him as “quirky” in his own way. She also had high praise for her co-star Powell.

The movie “Anyone But You,” distributed by Columbia Pictures in the Philippines, was released in cinemas on January 17. #AnyoneButYou.
