Clinic Owners Arrested for Running Illegal ‘Abortion’ Facility, Including 3 Vietnamese and 2 Chinese Suspects

Five Foreign Nationals Arrested for Running Illegal Abortion Clinic in Pasay City

MANILA, Philippines — In a recent raid on a clinic in Pasay City, five foreign nationals were arrested for allegedly performing illegal abortions. The Bureau of Immigration (BI) revealed that the group was operating an establishment on Macapagal Boulevard that appeared to be a regular wellness clinic offering spa services and cosmetic surgeries.

The arrested suspects, led by a Vietnamese man who identified himself as “Doctor Sang,” also included two other Vietnamese nationals and two Chinese men. Agents of the Pasay Police and the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) posed as clients to gather information before conducting the raid on Monday.

The BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval stated that the raid was initiated based on reports received by the PAOCC and BI regarding alleged abortion practices at the clinic. Among the equipment found during the raid were hospital beds, microscopes, test tubes, and medicines, indicating illegal medical procedures were being performed.

Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco emphasized that both the alleged abortions and cosmetic procedures carried out were unauthorized by the Department of Health. Sandoval also revealed that while the clinic advertised spa and wellness services on the front, illegal operations were being conducted by foreign nationals at the back of the establishment.

The arrested group has been detained at the BI facility in Bicutan, Taguig City, pending the resolution of a deportation case against them.
