PH Softbelles Remain in Contention at U15 Women’s Softball World Cup

Philippines Secures Spot in Super Round of U15 Women’s Softball World Cup

The Philippines achieved a crucial victory against Uganda, with a score of 7-0 via forfeiture, on Sunday, October 22. This win has kept the team in contention for a place in the super round of the U15 Women’s Softball World Cup, which is being held in Tokyo, Japan.

Despite a disappointing 20-0 defeat to the dominant United States earlier in the day, the triumph against Uganda has lifted the spirits of the Cebuana Lhuillier-bankrolled and Philippine Airlines-backed Blu Girls. This win marks their second victory in three matches.

The team’s victory over Czechia, also known as the Czech Republic, with a score of 3-2 in their previous match, further reinforced their confidence and fueled their hopes for securing a medal in this prestigious tournament.

Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines president, Jean Henri Lhuillier expressed his admiration for the team’s determination, stating, “Our young athletes have shown remarkable determination and have proven that they have what it takes to bring this home.” He also emphasized that they would need to continue working hard and strategizing effectively in order to overcome the remaining strong opponents they will face.

To continue their pursuit for success, the Filipinas must defeat Puerto Rico on Monday, October 23, and Brazil on Tuesday, October 24. These upcoming matches will determine their fate in the tournament as they strive to secure a coveted spot in the super round.
