Junior Altas and Squires Secure 6th Victory



In a recent game, the Perpetual Junior Altas bounced back from a loss and secured their sixth victory in the NCAA Season 99 Juniors basketball tournament. They dominated the Jose Rizal U Light Bombers with a score of 102-84 at the Filoil EcoOil Center in San Juan City.

Coach Joph Cleopas’ team, the Altalettes, triumphed over the Kalentong boys to stay tied for the lead with the defending champion Letran Squires, both boasting a 6-1 win-loss record. Leading the Junior Altas was Amiel Acido, who is currently leading the MVP race, with an impressive triple-double of 17 points, 18 rebounds, and 10 assists.

JD Pagulayan contributed a game-high 24 points, including six three-pointers. Additionally, LeBron Daep, Mark Gojo Cruz, and Aries Borja all scored in double figures to help solidify the Junior Altas’ victory.

In another game, the Letran Squires, led by Daniel Padilla and Jolo Navarro, dominated Arellano University with a score of 106-85. Padilla scored 28 points, while Navarro added 19 points and 23 rebounds, helping the Squires secure their fifth consecutive win.

San Sebastian also emerged victorious in their game against College of St. Benilde, with a final score of 76-67. Rion Porcadas led the way with 22 points, including five three-pointers, while Jhun Penaverde and Ruvic Danag added 19 and 12 points, respectively.

With these results, the standings in the NCAA Season 99 Juniors basketball tournament are heating up as teams continue to compete for the top spots.
