Marcos urges Filipinos to mirror bravery of WWII heroes in face of modern threats

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. called on Filipinos to embody the bravery and resilience of World War II heroes and heroines in the face of ongoing threats to the country. In his message on the Day of Valor, Marcos emphasized that the challenges Filipinos currently face are “in no way less grave” than those experienced 82 years ago. He urged Filipinos to stand by their freedoms and principles, fulfill their duties with dedication, and fight for a better future. Since taking office in June 2022, Marcos has taken a more assertive stance in defending the country’s sovereignty, particularly amid increasing confrontations with Beijing over the South China Sea.

Meanwhile, Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte highlighted the importance of teaching Filipino children about the value of history and the courage of heroes. She called on people to celebrate the Filipino veterans of World War II and honor their steadfastness in the name of freedom.
