Quiboloy advises transfer of case to SC, says SC spokesperson

In a recent development, the Supreme Court (SC) spokesperson announced that the Office of the Court Administrator (OCA) has presented its recommendation regarding the transfer of the case of fugitive doomsday preacher Apollo Quiboloy from a Davao City court to another court.

The SC spokesperson, Camille Sue Mae Ting, mentioned that the recommendation is considered confidential and will be raffled off to a high court division for further review.

Last week, the Department of Justice disclosed that they have requested the SC to transfer the child and sexual abuse cases of Quiboloy, currently being heard in a Davao City Regional Trial Court (RTC), to a different court.

In response to this request, one of Quiboloy’s lawyers, Ferdinand Topacio, expressed that such a transfer is not permissible. He urged the DOJ to ensure that the preacher can present his case through his legal representatives.

On another note, Senator Risa Hontiveros revealed that she has submitted her comment on the petition from Quiboloy’s camp challenging the arrest warrant issued by the Senate due to his non-appearance in an investigation related to alleged abuses within his church, the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.

The arrest warrant, issued on April 3, includes not only the preacher but also his associates, namely Jackielyn Roy, Cresente Canada, Paulene Canada, Ingrid Canada, and Sylvia Cemañes. Additionally, a non-bailable qualified human trafficking case has been filed in the Pasig City court, leading to a warrant of arrest issued on April 11.
