Chantal Schmidt from Cebu Wins 1st Runner-Up and Special Awards at Miss Eco International 2024



In a glamorous event held at the Triumph Luxury Hotel in Cairo on April 28, Angelina Usanova from Ukraine was crowned as the new Miss Eco International 2024. The competition saw delegates from around the world, with Chantal Elise Schmidt from the Philippines being named as the 1st runner-up despite not feeling well during the preliminaries. Schmidt also won the titles of Best in Evening Gown and Best National Costume.

The second and third runner-up positions went to Nikita Dani of Canada and Fabiane Goia of Brazil, respectively. Valerie Avril of Indonesia was named as the 4th runner-up after winning the Best Resort Wear Catwalk award. Other special awards were given to delegates from China, USA, Venezuela, and Thailand.

The selection committee for this year’s pageant included esteemed members from various fields. The event was hosted by Nancy Magdy and was broadcasted live on the MEI channel on YouTube. Usanova received her crown from the previous titleholder Nguyen Thanh Ha of Vietnam.

The Miss Eco International pageant has seen success for the Philippines in the past, with victories in 2018 and 2022, as well as several second-place finishes. The organization expressed excitement about crowning a new eco warrior to continue their mission of protecting the planet.
