Police Regional Office 10- A male cop was arrested by personnel from Ozamis City Police Station for indiscriminate firing at P-6 Brgy. Carmen Annex, Ozamis City on August 16, 2022.
The arrested person was identified as Patrolman Ed Betzer Baluran Pila, 36 years old, married, PNP member assigned at Bacolod-Kalawi Municipal Police Station, Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office, and a resident of Purok Nangka, Making Parang, Maguindanao.
Pila was arrested for Violation of Alarm and Scandal and Illegal Discharge of Firearm. Confiscated from his possession were one unit pistol Tanfoglio Cal. 9mm, one steel magazine, one steel magazine with destroyed spring, seven live ammunition of Cal. 9mm, one strider knives brand, one PNP ID, and one sling bag.
Pila is now under the custody of Ozamis CPS, Misamis Occidental Police Provincial Office for proper disposition.
Meanwhile, PBGEN LAWRENCE B COOP, Regional Director, PRO10 assures the public that implementation of the PNP’s transformation program thru internal cleansing will continue.
“Although the arrested person is not a member of PRO 10, but as members of PNP as a whole, I am reminding the men and women of this PRO not to engage in indiscriminate firing nor in any illegal activities.” RD COOP said.
RD COOP vowed that errant cops will be accorded with disciplinary action.
“I don’t want any personnel under my watch to be involved in illegal activities. We are serious with our Internal Cleansing Programs and Initiatives and we shall not permit these kinds of actions ruin the high trust rating that we gained from the public.” He added.
Further, RD COOP advised all commanders in region 10 to exercise Disciplinary Authority to correct work-related behavior of all PNP personnel.
