2GO strengthens its fleet with new vessels

Logistics giant 2GO Group Inc. has introduced a new vessel to meet the increasing demand for sea travel in the Philippines. The company welcomed MV Masigla to its fleet of roll-on, roll-off (RORO) ships, which will serve routes to Iloilo, Bacolod, and Cagayan de Oro.

In response to the surge in bookings for southbound trips, 2GO plans to launch another vessel in the first half of the year. Chief financial officer William Howell stated that the demand for sea travel to metropolitan areas in Visayas and Mindanao has been particularly strong, with passengers opting for ships over planes due to the generous baggage allowance.

For the year 2024, 2GO is set to invest around P1.5 billion to P2 billion in capital expenditures, with a focus on refurbishing existing vessels like MV Masikap and MV Masigla. The company also aims to expand its route network in Mindanao, including potential destinations known for popular surfing spots.

MV Masigla is equipped with amenities like an exclusive cafe and stores owned by the SM Group, offering passengers a unique and comfortable travel experience. With the addition of new ships, 2GO is confident in its ability to grow its business despite economic challenges at home and abroad.

2GO, a leading logistics provider in the country under SM Investments Corp., offers a range of services including sea travel and freight forwarding.
