La Salle Takes a Close Win Against UE

In a thrilling match at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, Far Eastern University (FEU) moved closer to securing a spot in the Final Four of the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament. Despite missing MVP Angel Canino for the second consecutive game, reigning champions La Salle also secured a crucial win to boost their chances of clinching a twice-to-beat advantage.

La Salle’s Lady Spikers fought hard against the University of the East, ultimately prevailing with a 25-23, 21-25, 25-17, 22-25, 15-12 victory. The win, their seventh in a row, allowed them to catch up with Santo Tomas for the No. 1 seeding. FEU also emerged victorious in their match against Adamson, with players Thea Gagate and Shevana Laput leading the charge with 22 and 21 points, respectively.

Despite their lowly record, UE put up a strong fight against La Salle, refusing to back down until the fifth set. Meanwhile, FEU relied on a collective effort from rookie Faida Bakanke, Chenie Tagaod, Gerzel Petallo, and Jean Asis to secure their sixth win of the season and position themselves for a shot at the last semifinal ticket.

FEU’s victory further solidified their lead over Ateneo, Adamson, and UE in the race for a spot in the Final Four. The Lady Spikers and the Lady Tamaraws are now gearing up for crucial matches in the coming weeks as they continue their quest for the championship title.
