JPE celebrates his 100th birthday



JPE turns 100 today

Presidential Legal Counsel, Secretary Juan Valentin Furagganan Ponce Enrile, better known as JPE, is celebrating his 100th birthday today. Born on February 14, 1924, he may be considered by the Guinness Book of World Records as the only centenarian still working in government.

Enrile has a storied career in politics, having served as an assemblyman, minister of defense, congressman, senator, and Senate president, making him the longest-serving public official in the country.

One of his most notable contributions is his defense of the military and uniformed personnel pension system, which has benefited more than 600,000 MUP, active and retired. Even in his advanced age, Enrile remains sharp and committed to his work, displaying a legal acumen and brilliance that rivals lawyers half his age.
