On February 24, 2024, in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, Del Monte dominated the second round of Championship division play at the 75th Philippine Airlines Senior Interclub tournament. The team, led by Romeo Jaraula’s three-under-par 69 worth 57 points, accumulated a total of 154 points to secure a 14-point lead over Canlubang.
Del Monte’s strong performance also saw contributions from Billy Adag and Crispin Parilla, who had scores that could have counted for the team. With a total aggregate of 305 points going into the third round, Del Monte’s playing skipper Yoyong Velez expressed satisfaction with their players’ delivery.
Ernisto Apas added to the team’s success with 49 points, as Velez hinted at maintaining the same lineup for the third round in hopes of further solidifying their lead. Despite Canlubang’s effort, which included 52 points from Abe Rosal and 50 points from Abe Avena in a total of 146 points, the team is now facing a significant deficit.
Defending champion Luisita tallied 145 points in the second round. Del Monte is now poised to potentially secure their first Senior title with a strong showing in the upcoming rounds of the tournament.
