Beermen come from behind to defeat Hotshots and claim 29th PBA championship



The San Miguel Beermen secured their 29th championship title after a thrilling victory against the Magnolia Hotshots in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Wednesday night. The Beermen made a stunning comeback, overcoming a double-digit deficit in the fourth quarter to seize the win with a final score of 104-102.

Jericho Cruz’s crucial trey and Chris Ross’s 3-pointer played a significant role in the Beermen’s comeback, ultimately leading them to take the lead in the final minutes of the game. CJ Perez, who was named the Finals MVP, delivered an outstanding performance with a playoff career-high 28 points.

Despite being down by 13 points in the third quarter, the Beermen rallied and outscored the Hotshots in the final quarter. Magnolia managed to maintain the lead for a significant portion of the game, but San Miguel’s late surge ultimately secured their victory and the championship.

Bennie Boatwright and June Mar Fajardo also contributed significantly to the Beermen’s win, finishing with 19 points each. On the other hand, Paul Lee led the scoring for Magnolia with 25 points off the bench.

The San Miguel Beermen’s remarkable comeback and their impressive performance in the final minutes of the game earned them a well-deserved victory and their 29th PBA championship title.
