Davao flood victims receive endorsement for P150 million aid from Speaker


Financial assistance amounting to up to P150 million has been allocated by Speaker Martin Romualdez for flood victims in the Davao region. Speaker Romualdez’s personal calamity funds and 30,000 food packs from the Department of Social Welfare and Development were distributed to the affected areas. Romualdez assured the people of Davao region that the government is committed to providing aid as they recover from the flood’s impact.

The financial aid was distributed through the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations program, and various representatives and local government officials in Davao. The breakdown of the assistance includes allocations for different congressional representatives of Davao and local government executives. In total, 21,000 food packs were dispatched to Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, and Davao de Oro to provide relief to the affected families.

Residents of Davao Oriental have been recovering from the heavy rainfall, with a total of 45,000 families or 187,000 people affected. The aid is a crucial support for those trying to bounce back from the adverse effects of the floods.
