Young leaders bring a new era to Ayala Group

The country’s oldest conglomerate recently celebrated its 190th anniversary with a media night event, showcasing the new generation of leaders set to helm the Ayala Group. The event, held at Dusit Thani in Makati City, featured siblings Mariana Zobel de Ayala and Jaime Alfonso Zobel de Ayala, along with their cousin Jaime Urquijo, engaging with journalists covering the conglomerate. While Ayala Corp. chairman Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala and his brother Fernando Zobel de Ayala have been the face of the group for many years, they were notably absent from the recent event. The presence of the younger generation at the media night marks a significant moment for the conglomerate as it looks towards the future. Mariana, Jaime Alfonso, and Jaime Urquijo are already making their marks within Ayala Corp., each leading different sectors of the business. As Ayala Corp. commemorates its 190th year, the theme “Always, Ayala” reflects on past achievements and looks ahead to a meaningful future working alongside employees, partners, customers, and the public. The conglomerate, which began in 1834 with the Casa Roxas business house, has since expanded its reach into various industries such as real estate, financial services, telecommunications, power, healthcare, and more. Through its diverse businesses, Ayala Corp. continues to contribute to the nation’s social and economic development, including initiatives like GCash, promoting electric vehicles, renewable energy projects, and accessible healthcare services.
