“Three NPA rebels yield in Calabarzon on Christmas Eve”

On the eve of Christmas, three members of the New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered to the police in the Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon region, signaling a significant shift in the ongoing peace and security efforts in the area.

The Police Regional Office 4-A confirmed the surrender of “Ka Rey,” a member of the Apolonio Mendoza Command (AMC) in Quezon, “Ka Marvin,” a member of Platoon Silangan under the Sub-Regional Military Area 4-C (SRMA 4-C) in Cavite, and “Ka Deline,” a member of NPA in the Barrio operating in Batangas.

Ka Rey handed over a caliber .38 revolver to the 405th A Maneuver Company in Mauban, Quezon; Ka Marvin surrendered a caliber .38 revolver, bullets, blasting cap, detonation cord, and a time fuse to the 401st A Maneuver Company in Silang, Cavite, while Ka Deline relinquished a caliber .38 with six bullets to the 1st Batangas Provincial Mobile Force Company in Rosario, Batangas.

According to authorities, the rebels made the decision to surrender in response to the government’s call to embrace peace and live a normal life. The police are currently processing their documents to enable them to avail of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP) for rebel returnees.

The surrender of the NPA rebels is seen as a positive development in the region’s efforts to quell insurgency and promote peace and security in the area.
