Police officer involved in bar incident to face criminal charges



The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has announced that the City Prosecutor’s Office has gathered enough evidence to proceed with the trial of P/Lt.Col. Mark Julio Abong on several criminal charges. This comes after Abong fired his firearm at a bar in Barangay Laging Handa, Quezon City on November 26.

According to QCPD, Abong will be facing numerous charges, including Illegal Discharge of Firearms; Violation of Batas Pambansa Blg. (B.P) 881 in relation to Comelec Resolution No. 10918. Additionally, he will face charges of Maltreatment and Direct Assault upon an Agent of Person in Authority.

QCPD chief P/Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan emphasized the police’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity within the force. “We will not tolerate any misconduct or abuse of power, and we will take decisive action to address any violations of the law,” he stated.
