Improved Access Road, New Tourism Building Completed in Iloilo

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has delivered in Iloilo Province a newly-paved access road from Bangga Boling to Sitio Camp Site in the town of Sta. Barbara and a new municipal tourism building in Alimodian.

Residents of Barangay Cadagmayan Norte and other neighboring upland communities in Sta. Barbara now have better access to social, health, economic, and other government services with the completion of a 2-lane portland concrete cement pavement (PCCP) access road.

DPWH Regional Office 6 Director Nerie D. Bueno explained that the newly-concreted 862.8-lineal meter road also traverses vast agricultural lands, allowing for a more convenient transport of products to markets, thereby improving the economic condition of far-flung communities in the municipality, especially rice and vegetable farmers, and animal raisers.

Meanwhile, DPWH Iloilo 4th District Engineering Office has provided the town of Alimodian with a better venue for agri-tourism activities.
The new single-storey municipal tourism building constructed in Barangay Poblacion will cater to the needs of both local and foreign tourists in the town as it serves as Alimodian’s Tourism Office and Tourism Information Center, which is essential for the development and marketing of its agri-tourism destinations.

It can also serve as a temporary exhibition center to showcase the cultural and historical artifacts of the town.

“The new tourism building will also help generate jobs as it significantly brings opportunities in business and investment which will benefit the town’s economy,” said Director Bueno.
