PBA Philippine Cup semis catch the attention of painters

The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters are gearing up for the upcoming PBA Philippine Cup with high hopes of making it to at least the semifinals, according to coach Yeng Guiao. The team will kick off the All-Filipino conference on Wednesday against the TNT Tropang Giga at 7:30 in the evening at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

Guiao expressed confidence in the team’s potential, especially with their youthful lineup that thrives on a fast-paced style of play. Despite not having any players in the top 10 scorers, Rain or Shine has consistently been a high-scoring team in recent conferences.

Before the start of the Philippine Cup, the team made some changes by trading away Rey Nambatac and releasing James Yap. This season, the Elasto Painters will rely on a mix of young talents and veteran players to lead them to success.

In a bold statement, Guiao stated, “This All-Filipino conference, since we reached the quarterfinals last conference, I believe it will be realistic for us to aim at least the semifinals. There are a lot of teams that are strong, but who knows. We may get lucky.”

The conference will also feature the new-look Blackwater facing off against the Meralco Bolts in the opening game. Blackwater made significant roster moves in the offseason to strengthen their lineup, acquiring key players like Nambatac, Yap, Jaydee Tungcab, and Justin Chua.
