House mourns the passing of esteemed legal mind Pidi Barzaga



House Speaker Extends Condolences to Cavite Rep. Barzaga’s Family

In a statement, House Speaker Martin Romualdez expressed his condolences to the family and loved ones of Cavite Rep. Elpido Barzaga Jr., whom he described as “a great legal thinker.” Barzaga passed away at the age of 74 in California, United States.

Romualdez praised Barzaga as a valuable asset to the House of Representatives, describing him as a great legal thinker and smart number-cruncher. He highlighted Barzaga’s expertise in legal advice and understanding the national budget due to his background as a certified public accountant and lawyer.

The Speaker also mentioned Barzaga’s active participation in sessions and committee hearings, along with his dedication to his constituents and family. Romualdez offered his prayers and thoughts to Barzaga’s family, especially his wife, Mayor Jenny Barzaga, and his sons.

Barzaga, who was the president of the National Unity Party, had traveled to the US last year to undergo open-heart surgery. His passing is mourned by colleagues and constituents alike.
