Miley Cyrus’ Hit ‘Flowers’ Named IFPI’s Best-Selling Single of 2023
London – Miley Cyrus’ hit song “Flowers” has been recognized as the best-selling single of 2023 by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI). This marks the first time the U.S. singer-songwriter has achieved this feat.

The IFPI, which represents the global recorded music industry, awarded Cyrus with the IFPI Global Single Award for 2023 for her emotional disco-tinged breakup anthem. The song, which garnered 2.7 billion streams on paid subscription services, also recently won two Grammys.

Lewis Morrison, the IFPI’s director of global charts and certifications, praised the song for topping the charts in multiple countries simultaneously and resonating with audiences worldwide with its message of empowerment.

In addition to Cyrus, artists like Rema from Nigeria and Yng Lvcas and Peso Pluma from Mexico made it to the top 10 for the first time with their singles “Calm Down” and “La Bebe,” respectively. This highlights the growing popularity of genres like Afrobeats and regional Mexican music.

Furthermore, Taylor Swift, who was named global recording artist of the year by the IFPI for the fourth time, also had two singles, “Cruel Summer” and “Anti-Hero,” feature in the top 10 of the IFPI’s singles rundown.

Overall, Cyrus’ achievement reflects the global appeal and success of her hit single “Flowers” in 2023.
