Eala achieves highest world ranking in her career

Filipina tennis player Alex Eala continues to climb the rankings in women’s singles play, reaching a new career-high of 180th in the world. Eala jumped eight spots from her previous ranking of 188th. This achievement comes after her quarterfinal finish in the W75 Porto in Portugal, where she faced eventual champion Anna Bondar.

Next, Eala is set to compete in the W50 Trnava in Slovakia, where she will once again face Bondar in the first round. In addition to her singles success, the 18-year-old also saw a ten-spot jump in the doubles rankings, now ranking 293rd in the world. Eala and her partner, Ali Collins, reached the quarterfinals of the W75 Porto doubles play before bowing out to Alicia Barnett and Anna-Lena Friedsam.
