Lyceum dominates MCU in UCAL basketball tournament



In a highly anticipated match at the Universities and Colleges Athletic League-PG Flex Linoleum Season 6, Lyceum of the Philippines University dominated Manila Central University with a final score of 102-65. The game, held at the University of Batangas Gym in Batangas City, saw the Pirates break away from a close first quarter to establish a commanding lead by halftime.

The Pirates continued to press their advantage in the second half, extending their lead to 80-49 going into the final quarter. With the victory, LPU improved their record to 5-5, putting them in a tie for fifth to sixth place with Diliman College. On the other hand, MCU dropped to seventh place with a 5-6 record.

Key players in the game included Kurt Lee Laput, who contributed 18 points, six assists, and six rebounds, and Einstein Ramon, who led the team with 20 points, including six three-pointers. For CEU, Daniel Marcelo and Abdul-Wahab Olusesi stood out with 17 points and 16 points respectively.

Meanwhile, defending champion Centro Escolar University secured a 77-68 victory against host University of Batangas, taking the top spot in the league with an 8-2 record. CEU will aim to maintain their position by defeating Olivarez College in their next game.
