Joey ‘Bekikang’ Paras, Renowned Comedian, Dies at Age 45



Filipino actor-director Joey “Bekikang” Paras has sadly passed away at the age of 45. The news of his demise was announced by his loved ones on social media.

In a heartfelt statement, his family and friends shared, “To all of our family and friends, we are saddened to announce that our Tito Joey Paras passed away and joined our Creator this afternoon, October 29, 2023, at 5:40 pm. Unfortunately, his heart wasn’t able to recover anymore.”

Currently, Joey’s remains are still at the hospital’s morgue, as the family needs to settle his hospital bills before taking him home. They are now reaching out to the public for assistance in raising funds to cover his medical expenses. The immediate family is requesting those who are willing to help to kindly message them for the bank details. Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.

Joey “Bekikang” Paras was a familiar face in the entertainment industry, appearing in various Kapuso shows such as Sunday PinaSaya, Mulawin vs Ravena, The Last Prince, Princess in the Palace, and more. He also had a successful film career with credits including Ayuda Babes, Working Beks, Maria Leonora Teresa, Sisterakas, Working Girls, Bromance: My Brother’s Romance, and Bekikang: Ang Nanay Kong Beki, among others.

Joey faced health challenges in the past, seeking help for a heart operation in June 2020. At that time, he needed PHP 750,000 for an angioplasty procedure to address clogged heart arteries and improve blood flow to his heart. Actress Kris Bernal was among the stars who generously responded to his call for assistance.

This was not Joey’s first heart surgery, as he previously underwent the procedure in July 2018.

The news of Joey “Bekikang” Paras’s sudden passing deeply saddened the entertainment industry and his fans. The beloved actor will be greatly missed, and his contributions to the Philippine showbiz industry will always be remembered.
