San Miguel Beermen dominate Rain or Shine Painters, improving to 2-0

The San Miguel Beermen are on the verge of securing a spot in the PBA Philippine Cup finals following a dominant performance against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters. The defending champions took a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven semifinal series after a convincing 106-89 victory at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

June Mar Fajardo led the charge for the Beermen with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists, while CJ Perez contributed 19 points and 11 rebounds. Despite a strong effort from Rain or Shine to narrow the gap in the third quarter, San Miguel responded with a decisive 19-2 run to build a substantial lead.

Terrence Romeo provided a spark off the bench with 16 points, and Marcio Lassiter added 13 points, moving closer to Jimmy Alapag’s all-time triple record. Lassiter surpassed LA Tenorio to claim the third spot in all-time 3-pointers made.

Anton Asistio paced the Elasto Painters with 20 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Beermen’s offensive onslaught. San Miguel will look to extend their series lead to 3-0 in their upcoming clash on Wednesday at the Dasmarinas Arena.
