Gello Marquez Embraces Easy Listening Vibes with Debut Self-Titled Album

Gello Marquez, a former contestant on Idol Philippines season 1, has a strong passion for music despite his experience in acting. During a listening party for his debut album released under Star Music on September 8, Gello expressed his love for music, stating that it will always be his first love. He hopes to create an album in the future featuring his own compositions.

The self-titled album consists of seven Filipino tracks, including his first single “Penpen” which was released last month. Gello chose these easy-listening tracks based on his affinity for old songs, aiming to provide a modernized version of classic tunes. The album’s release marks a significant milestone for the 22-year-old artist, who used to only dream of having a hit song.

Gello’s latest music video for “Penpen” features a love triangle storyline between him, BGYO member Akira Morishita, and former “Pinoy Big Brother Otso” housemate Ashley del Mundo. The track was composed by Allan G. Alveyra Jr. and Karl James Fabregas, drawing inspiration from the Filipino game “Penpen de Sarapen.”

Jonathan Manalo, a composer, praised Gello’s strength as a balladeer and his clear vision as an artist. He commended Gello’s involvement in the selection of songs and arrangement treatment, emphasizing the importance of this collaboration between artist and label for long-term success.

Jonathan also expressed interest in Gello’s future development as a songwriter, as it is a goal Gello aspires to achieve in his career. He highlighted Gello’s serenading style and his captivating voice, describing it as soothing and pleasant to listen to. Jonathan believes that Gello’s personality, confidence, and natural charm make him unique among other balladeers.

The release of Gello Marquez’s self-titled album signifies his dedication and passion for music. With his captivating voice and potential as a songwriter, it is clear that the young artist’s career is on a promising trajectory.
