Filipino Fitness Instructor Wins Asia Fitness Idol 2023 Presenter Discovery Competition
Ely Quirino Jr., a fitness instructor from Cagayan de Oro City, recently made waves in the fitness world by winning the Asia Fitness Idol 2023 Presenter Discovery Competition held at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Center in Thailand. Quirino bested over 50 fitness instructors from across the Asian region to claim the coveted title.
In a three-minute routine highlighted by Kpop hip-hop burlesque moves, Quirino wowed the audience and the judges, ultimately securing the win. This marks the first time that the Philippines has taken home the title in the Asia Fitness Idol competition.
Quirino, who is a certified personal trainer and group instructor at the International Fitness Association (İFA), expressed his gratitude on social media, stating, “We made it my beloved Philippines. I never thought I would reach this biggest milestone in my fitness career. Thank you so much.”
The Asia Fitness Conference + is an annual gathering of fitness professionals and enthusiasts from around the world, aimed at learning, exercising, networking, and having fun in Asia’s most impactful fitness conference. The competition was witnessed by more than 800 participants from Asia, the US, Europe, Australia, and beyond.
Quirino’s impressive performance on stage and his natural talent for fitness earned him praise from the judges and the audience. His win showcases the competitiveness of Filipinos in the fitness industry and solidifies his status as a rising star in the field.
The judges panel consisted of a diverse, international panel, including Lawrence Biscontini, Apittiya Soma (Bom), and Panuwat Rongbandit (Kelvin), among others. Quirino’s victory not only highlights his individual talent but also puts the Philippines on the map in the global fitness arena.
