At 68, Lito Lapid continues to perform his own stunts

Senator Lito Lapid Proves He’s Still Fit for Stunts in “FPJ’s Ang Batang Quiapo”

Despite being 68 years old, Senator Lito Lapid continues to prove that he is still fit for action-packed stunts in the movie “FPJ’s Ang Batang Quiapo.” Although he is known for his acting career, his prowess as a legendary stuntman should not be overlooked, especially by the younger generation who may not be fully aware of his impressive feats.

Lapid recently confirmed that he still does his own stunts in the movies, emphasizing that performing stunts is his passion, and he intends to continue doing so for as long as he is physically capable. “Ako talaga ang gumagawa ng mga stunts ko kasi alam talaga ng mga tao na stuntman ako. Hindi ako nagpapadoble,” said Lapid during a Christmas lunch for the entertainment press in Quezon City on Nov. 28.

Lapid, who also takes caution due to his age, mentioned that he has had no accidents or broken bones since performing stunts. “Pero nag-i-ingat na rin ako dahil may edad na rin ako. Kumbaga kaya ng isip ko pero hindi na kaya ng katawan ko. Sa tagal ko sa pelikula, wala pa naman akong bale sa katawan. Sana huwag naman. Kaya sinubukan ko uli mag stunt sa ‘Batang Quiapo’ at kaya ko pa naman,” he explained.

In addition to his stunts, Lapid also revealed an upcoming project with fellow senators Bong Revilla, Robin Padilla, and Jinggoy Estrada, in a movie intended for the film festival next year. The earnings of the movie will be donated to the movie industry, Lapid said, emphasizing that none of his films have been preserved for future generations to enjoy.

Thanks to FPJ and Susan Roces, Lapid expressed his hope that the Philippine movie industry will take action in preserving their films, as their legacy continues to live on and their contributions cannot be understated.
