Stray Kids, Cha Eun-woo, Bright Vachirawit, The Boyz Take Home Wins at 2023 Video Music Awards Japan



The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards Japan, also known as MTV VMAJ, took place on November 23 at the K Arena Yokohama in Japan. The event included performances by BE:FIRST, Thai actor-singer Bright Vachirawit, Korean actor Cha Eun-woo, the K-pop group The Boyz, and others.

During the event, several awards were presented. Mrs. Green Apple won the Video of the Year award for their song “Que Sera Sera,” while Stray Kids received the Best Group Video (International) award for their song “Case 143.” Cha Eun-woo was honored with the Globe Icon Award, and Bright Vachirawit made history as the first Thai artist to win the Best Asia Celebrity award at the VMAJ. The Boyz took home the Best Asia Group award, and the K-pop girl group NewJeans received the Best Buzz Award.

Additionally, a stabbing incident occurred at the K Arena Yokohama on the same day as the VMAJ event. A woman in her 40s was reportedly stabbed and seriously injured, according to local fire officials.

The winners of the 2023 MTV VMAJ Awards were also announced, including categories such as Best Solo Artist Video, Best Group Video, Best New Artist, and more. Special award winners included Mrs. Green Apple for Artist of the Year, Yoasobi for Song of the Year, and aiko for Album of the Year, among others.

Overall, the 2023 MTV VMAJ event was a celebration of music and talent, but the incident that occurred at the venue added an unexpected and sobering element to the proceedings.
