“Get ready!”: Filipino-American Jacob Batalon calls on Filipinos to watch ‘Tarot’



A Filipino-American actor is urging Filipinos to see his latest horror film “Tarot.” Jacob Batalon, known for his role in Marvel’s “Spider-Man” movies, stars in the movie which revolves around a deck of tarot cards. The film warns against using someone else’s cards, as the characters in the movie face terrifying consequences after receiving cards like the High Priestess, the Hermit, the Magician, and the Hanged Man. In a promotional video, Batalon recognizes Filipinos’ love for supernatural horror and promises a “fun scary day at the cinemas” with “Tarot.” The movie, also featuring Harriet Slater, Avantika, Adain Bradley, Humberly González, Alana Boden, Wolfgang Novogratz, and Larsen Thompson, is based on a 1992 novel of the same name. Co-written by Nicholas Adams and co-directed by Anna Halberg, the movie is set to premiere in Philippine cinemas on May 1, two days before its release in the United States.
