Nicaragua’s Sheynnis Palacios has been named the winner of Miss Universe 2023 at the 72nd edition of the pageant, held in El Salvador. The 23-year-old was crowned by her predecessor, R’Bonney Gabriel from the United States, marking the first win for a contestant from Nicaragua.

Palacios competed against 84 other contestants from around the world, ultimately securing the title. Her win was celebrated at the newly renovated Adolfo Pineda National Gymnasium in San Salvador, an event attended by El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele.

The week-long competition included various segments where the contestants showcased their talents, confidence, and poise. Palacios emphasized the importance of equal pay for women in her final answer to the jury, stating that there should be no limit for women in any area of work.

The gala also announced that the next edition of Miss Universe will be held in Mexico, marking an exciting shift for the iconic event. Overall, the competition was a celebration of diverse beauty, talent, and empowerment for all women.
