While the Model Spec includes guidelines prohibiting NSFW content, such as erotica and extreme gore, the company is considering providing the ability to generate NSFW content through its API and ChatGPT.
OpenAI employee, Joanne Jang, confirmed the plan but emphasized that the company will not allow deepfakes. Jang stated, “We want to ensure that people have maximum control within legal and ethical boundaries, but enabling deepfakes is not on the table.”
The potential introduction of AI pornography has raised concerns about the harmful impacts of such content. Reports from cybersecurity firms have highlighted the prevalence of nonconsensual deepfake porn, with the majority of victims being young women.
