Renee Zellweger and Hugh Grant to Star in ‘Bridget Jones 4’



In an exciting turn of events for fans of the “Bridget Jones” franchise, Renee Zellweger and Hugh Grant are confirmed to star in a fourth installment of the beloved series. It has been over two decades since the original adaptation of Helen Fielding’s iconic character first graced the screens.

Zellweger will be reprising her role as Bridget Jones, while Grant will return as Daniel Cleaver. Emma Thompson, who appeared in 2016’s “Bridget Jones’s Baby,” is also set to make a comeback as Jones’s OB/GYN Dr. Rawling.

Joining the cast are newcomers Chiwetel Ejiofor, an Academy Award nominee, and Leo Woodall from the acclaimed series “The White Lotus.” The film will be produced by Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, and Jo Wallett, with Fielding serving as the sole screenwriter.

Directed by experienced television director Michael Morris, the new film will be based on Fielding’s third book, “Mad About The Boy.” This installment follows Bridget Jones in her early 50s as she navigates modern life and the challenges of motherhood.

The “Bridget Jones” movies have been a global success, with a collective box office earnings of over $750 million (P42.2 billion) on a $100 million (P5.62 billion) budget. “Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy” is set for release on Valentine’s Day next year.

With Zellweger fresh off her second Oscar win for “Judy” and Grant busy with upcoming projects like the comedy film “Unfrosted” and the HBO political satire show “The Regime,” fans are eagerly anticipating the return of these beloved characters to the big screen in 2023.
