Police Officer Arrested for Shooting Brother of Live-in Partner in Pasay City

In a shocking incident that unfolded in Don Carlos Village, Barangay 190, Zone 20, Pasay City, a police officer was arrested after shooting dead the brother of his live-in partner. The suspect, identified as Staff Sgt. Ruel Lacuesta, had a heated argument with his partner in the early hours of Thursday, Oct. 26, according to the Southern Police District (SPD).

During the argument, Lacuesta allegedly pulled out his firearm with the intention to shoot his partner. However, tragically, the bullet struck the woman’s brother, referred to as “Ramon,” in the chest. Despite immediate transportation to the hospital, Ramon was declared dead upon arrival.

Immediately after the incident, Lacuesta fled the scene. However, members of the Pasay Police Substation-5 were preparing to launch a follow-up operation against him when they received information that the suspect desired to surrender and take responsibility for his actions.

The arrest of Lacuesta was made in Barangay Mamatid, Cabuyao, Laguna, where he voluntarily turned himself in to the responding policemen and surrendered his service firearm. He was subsequently taken into custody at the Pasay City Police Station and detained in their custodial facility. Lacuesta’s service firearm was sent to the SPD Forensic Unit for ballistic examination.

He is expected to face multiple charges, including murder and attempted murder. In addition, he will be charged with violating Republic Act 9262, which pertains to Violence Against Women and Children, as well as R.A. 10591 in relation to R.A. 76166, the Omnibus Election Code.

The incident has left the community in shock and mourning over the loss of Ramon. Investigations are ongoing to gather more details about the altercation and the circumstances leading up to this tragic incident.
