After a 3-year hiatus, the 4th ID reopens for outdoor physical activities.

In response to the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Army’s 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division has recently restarted outdoor physical activities, including exercises, Taebo, and athletic day. The primary objective behind this decision is to boost the morale and overall well-being of the troops after a prolonged three-year hiatus.

Major Gen. Jose Maria R. Cuerpo II, commanding general of the 4th Infantry Division, led the kick-off activity on Monday, September 4, at Camp Evangelista, Barangay Patag, Cagayan de Oro City. The Taebo exercise was held the following day as part of the athletic day festivities.

Besides the 4th Infantry Division, the 401st (Agusan del Sur), 403rd (Bukidnon), 901st (Surigao del Norte), and 402nd Brigades have also resumed physical activities following a comprehensive evaluation of the prevailing situation.

These outdoor activities hold significant importance within the 4th Infantry Division’s mission, as they contribute to promoting the physical and mental health of its personnel, including its Civilian Human Resource (CHR). This concerted effort aims to ensure the effectiveness of the troops in fulfilling their duties and responsibilities.

According to Major Francisco P. Garello Jr., Chief of the Public Affairs Office (PAO) at the 4th Infantry Division, these activities offer soldiers and CHR a chance to stay physically fit, observe traditional military ceremonies, foster resilience, and reinvigorate their dedication to their service.

Major Gen. Cuerpo emphasized that the resumption of these activities showcases the collective commitment of the 4th Infantry Division in continuously building and sustaining their force to effectively serve the people. This commitment extends towards enhancing the physical and mental well-being of the troops.

“The regular conduct of the flag ceremony is also an opportunity for the troops to reaffirm their unwavering commitment to the military service and country,” said Major Gen. Cuerpo.

After enduring the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Army’s 4th Infantry Division embraces these activities as an essential part of their overall strategy to support and empower their troops. By prioritizing physical and mental health, they ensure that the soldiers are motivated and dedicated to fulfilling their duty towards the nation.
